For people who want to grow more food with less work. 🌱 This is my weekly newsletter loved by 38,000+ subscribers—here's what one of them had to say: "These are not the regular run-of-the-mill garden-based emails. You actually touch on more unusual tidbits that encourage me to keep growing and learning."
If you're like me, you might be starting to think about what kinds of seeds you want to start indoors and how much space you'll need. I'm reworking my seed starting setup in the garage this year and sketching out a rough garden plan for spring (using my Ultimate Garden Diary) to see which plants should go where. Some seeds will be started indoors in a couple months, but many of my vegetable seeds will be planted right in the garden—and in fact, several of them should ONLY be direct-sowed outside. Even weeks before my last frost date! Direct-sowing these types of seeds will lead to more productive crops, not to mention it's just easier to stick seeds in the ground vs. futzing with seed starting trays and pots. You'll save valuable space under your grow lights and make it easier on yourself too. P.S. Not every type has to be—or even should be—started indoors. These seeds will do better if you sow them directly outside. P.P.S. If you need a good seed inventory sheet, there's one included in my Ultimate Garden Diary. |
