I just harvested over 10 pounds of carrots from my garden this week. Correction: My kids harvested over 10 pounds of carrots. They were only supposed to pick a few for dinner and the following day's lunch, and before I knew it, they got overzealous and picked almost the entire bed! I was in the middle of cooking and had no room in the kitchen to wash and prep them, so I did what any reasonable person would do: I filled the bathtub with water and dumped all the carrots in there until I could deal with them the next day. 🤣 (This is how I store carrots for 6 months without a root cellar—so easy!—and this is what I make with all the carrot tops. Don't toss those greens!) I don't know what changed this season, but this was one of our best carrot harvests to date, even though we picked them a bit earlier than I normally like to. (I tend to wait until after the first few frosts for a summer-planted crop—here's why.) Usually I get an odd-shaped carrot here and there or a few that never make it to full size despite growing for a solid three months. They're just two of several weird issues that often plague carrots, and I don't think I'm the only one who's experienced them. Have you had less-than-stellar carrot harvests? These are 9 of the most common problems that affect carrots, and what you can do to fix them. (And no, not having space and instead using the bathtub is not one of them. 😂) P.S.
