Yes, I'm that person... the one who embraces winter and loves all the lights and music (and movies!) of the holiday season, the gatherings, the cheeriness, the snowy wonderland. We hung lights on our house a few days before Halloween (because I hate when it gets dark early after the time change), and while I do Santa, stockings, gingerbread houses, and candy canes for my kids, I do all the other things—garlands, wreaths, fairy lights, and cinnamon-scented pinecones—for myself. It keeps our home feeling bright and lively and warm (even when the weather is anything but), and I always look forward to celebrating what I love most about the season: family traditions. Ever since my husband and I got married, we've carried over a few holiday traditions from his childhood but also started new ones with our own little family. And my favorite one, by far, is heading out to the national forest to chop down a Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving. (It's only $5 for a tree, and one year we even cut down a 12-foot fir tree! Here's a guide I wrote on how you can do that in the national forest nearest you.) The tree we harvest is almost like a family member because it stays with us until the week after New Year's Day. Yep, we keep our tree going for 5 or 6 weeks every year! And it's easy to do so if you keep a few key things in mind. I've put together my top 9 tips here for making your Christmas tree last as long as possible. Yes, 9 tips! I update this guide every year (including this year) to make sure my info is current. Tip #9 may surprise you, by the way. I just learned it last year! And if you still need a tree stand (or want to get a better one), you cannot go wrong with this deluxe tree stand. We've owned this for a few years now and can set up our tree in literally 5 seconds. 🌟 Just a reminder: You have just one more day to enter my giveaway for one of two $500 Amazon.com gift cards. Head to my recent post about the best Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals I've found for your home and garden, and follow the instructions for your chance to win! 🌟 I've given away 10 gift cards (totaling $5,000) to my readers in the last couple years, and you could be one of them! If Amazon isn't your thing, here are more holiday sales I'm liking:
