For people who want to grow more food with less work. 🌱 This is my weekly newsletter loved by 38,000+ subscribers—here's what one of them had to say: "These are not the regular run-of-the-mill garden-based emails. You actually touch on more unusual tidbits that encourage me to keep growing and learning."
Last week I got the long-awaited email from my project manager: the final edits for The Route 66 Cookbook were approved, and the manuscript was on its way to the printer! 🙌 In approximately 10 weeks, we should have the first copy of my new book in hand! If you've been following since last year, you may remember that I signed on to write a special centennial cookbook that honors the culinary history and food icons of Route 66. This fabled highway marked the beginning of modern American transportation and over its official lifespan, Route 66 served as an east-west escape route during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, a major artery for military traffic during World War I, and a leisure highway during its heyday in the 1950s when the great American road trip was very much about the journey. And today, it's a 2,400-mile adventure that draws travelers from all over the world by car, motorcycle, bicycle, and even on foot. Last summer, my family and I spent more than two months on the road, exploring Route 66 from Santa Monica, CA, to Chicago, IL, and eating at dozens of restaurants along the way. (Surprise: It's so much more than just diners and drive-ins.) Those restaurants (and their original recipes) became the basis for my book, and I'm so excited to bring this to you in time for the 100th anniversary of Route 66! The official release date is October 28, but you can preorder now to guarantee a book will be reserved in your name when it arrives in warehouses.
It's the perfect book for a history buff, a food lover, or a fan of all things Americana, and if you've collected my other cookbooks over the years, The Route 66 Cookbook will fit right in with its hardcover 9x9 format and beautiful photography (which are all original to the book). THANK YOU for supporting my work! ❤️ |
